[뉴스노트] 8월 첫째 주 (7/31-8/5)

이번 주는 Paypal, Uber, Amazon 등 Earnings에 관한 뉴스가 많았던 것 같다. 뉴스를 매일 듣다 보니 우리는 정보의 홍수 속에서 살고 있다는 것을 새삼 깨닫게 된다.

7/31 Mon

• Billboard: 
  • Jason Aldean’s “Try that in a Small Town” topping charts; backlash related to polarized comments
    
  • AI is being used for old catalogs; Immersive environments; surround audio; Stem separation is one of the best usage of AI
    
• Finimize:
  • Emerging markets like Mexico, Romania, etc… trying to avoid hard landing; might be heading to soft landing too
  • There could be spot bitcoin ETF soon; If big banks engage, commission fees can go down
  • Energy sector (Exon); PER is lowest in S&P 500, but it’s also making more cash in S&P index.. this may be a bargain
• Wall Street Journal:
  • Holding stock isn’t too beneficial it seems; equity-risk premium is low
  • Treasury bond is super safe, and the gap between stocks is not so much
  • risk premium started to shrink second half of 2022
  • historically, risk premiums revert to average over time

• Billboard: rosalia x fc barcelona sports merch partnership is doing well
  • Long term spotify partnership; sports amplifying streams

  • China still looking frail, but valuation is discounted compared to western counterparts

8/2 Wed

• Billboard: Sexyy Red; Tay Keith, Nicki Minaj collab
• Finimize: Uber finally profitable, Toyota also sold a lot of cars; tech and industrial is doing well—look into semiconductors, etc
• NY times: song ‘kill the boar’ in south Africa
  • Freedom of speech vs hate speech?
  • Anti apartheid vs anti-white?

• NY Times: Project 2025 from Republicans will reverse efforts in climate change
  • Younger republicans believe human activity causes climate change and takes it seriously 
• Billboard: “breaking” an artist is harder than ever
  • More mid level successes, but fewer mega stars; ice spice, Olivia Rodrigo
  • Consumers are overwhelmed with content and creators are fighting for attention 
  • Labels to be less dependent on superstars; Less artists sign 360 deals so labels can’t enjoy too much of touring and merchandise incomes
  • Tiktok music: mexico, Australia, Singapore; Brazil and Indonesia next

  • Amazon topped with veteran than expected growth; especially cloud
  • Apple: more than billion subscribers 
  • Vigilant asset allocation (더 알아보기!!!)
    • Momentum is important 
    • It’s a strategy and there’s formula
