[뉴스노트] 7월 셋째 주 (7/17-7/21)

지난번에 포스팅했던 것처럼 이번주는 매일 아침에 뉴스를 읽거나 듣는 것을 목표로 했다. 계획했던 것처럼 매일 Finimize, Billboard, New York Times를 다 읽을 수 있었던 것은 아니지만 힘이 닿는 한 노력했다. 

 

특히 기억 나는 주제들은 Climate Change (기후변화), 미국-중국의 관계, 주식 시장에서 금융 회사/은행들의 선방 등이었다.

7/17 월

• NYTimes: <One Reason China is Willing to Engage Again: Its Troubled Economy>   
  • Tone changed with regards to the U.S; US+China: 2/5 of global output
  • Li Qiang (premier and second highest official): “China is open for business”
  • Chinese exports are suffering
  • American companies have complained that it has become more difficult to do business in China amid the government’s focus on national security
  • China depends on foreign exports; their ties to Russia hurt their relationship to EU

  • Latin music is big, but you need to understand the culture if you want to make anything out of it

  • China -US had climate talk at China. China is making a lot of renewable energy
  • no concrete agreement ; hopefully climate talk can ease US-China tensions 

7/20 목

• Finimize: Netflix got many new subscribers, but exchange rate and US strike is hurting their profits
• NY Times: How Extreme Heat Affects Workers and the Economy
  • 비행기 청소부들의 work environment가 매우 열악함
  • 아스팔트에서 오는 열 때문에도
  • 빛을 반사하는 색의 옷이라던가 헬멧에 쿨링 패드 등의 도구와 정책적으로 보호해 주어야 한다

7/21 금

• NY Times: <Pressured by Biden, A.I. Companies Agree to Guardrails on New Tool>
  • 특히 China로 신기술이 유출되는 거를 우려하고 있음
